xj350 stereo question

guys

i have the premium sound set up in my xjr, but on the touch screen when in audio mode there is a button between the ffwd button and the dsp buttton with the icon R and a speaker. The thing is it's always the same colour as the background so is obviously non fuctional at the moment. What is it meant to do and when does it become functional? Is it an option not installed on my car? i do also have the rear media package but depsite reading it's manual, the touchscreen manual and the main manual i can't find any mention of this and what it does.

Interesting - I have the same greyed out button in my XJR.
I've also got rear mutli media and pretty much all the options so no idea what it could be for.

Maybe it's a bit like the 3D satnav option button that does not work.

i've often wondered if it's somehting to do with the rear set up, if you can select the rear input or control the sound in the back somehow, but since i've never played with the rear stuff i don't know.

my 3d button works fine on my sat nav, i use the 3d mode most of the time, apparently if you upgrade to the new software the address input is no longer greyed out when you're driving

That's interesting about the 3D button - mine has never worked and I think I was told it was only available on earlier versions.

I very recently updated my SatNav disk to the latest 2007/08 year and confirm that you (or your passenger) can now input an address on the move. Still no 3D option - in fact having just checked, the 3D button has disappeared altogether.

and i was thinking of updating mine, it would eb interesting to see if it disappears, a real shame i like it

I looked through my Jaguar XJ study guides and couldn't come up with an answer for you, but thinking out loud, I wonder if it is to turn off the rear controls so the kiddies can't play with them or maybe to turn on/off the rear sub-woofers?
