buying 911 in germany
Discussion
For a used car locator (you want a used car?), go to the German Porsche website, select 'Gebrauchtwagen', and then 'Internationaler Porsche Locator'. Select the country/region and type your requirements into the field.
Sadly, this service seems not to be integrated into the Porsche UK site
You'll as well find all terms for Porsche Approved and used car gurantee for Porsches sold in Germany there. Again everything in German language.
Porsche's own used cars a viewable under

basically, i'm probably looking for an LHD 993rs or gt3. i've had an eye out in the uk for a while, but with certain notable exceptions, supply is limited and prices are quite high for non franchised dealers. thus i thought of looking on the german opc sites, as i thought the warranty etc might be better quality and possibly extendable via a uk opc in the uk. i'll probably phone porsche uk to ask about this. translating german (internet) opc dealer prices in euros back to sterling gets you a decent gt3 for 52/53k post sterling's little bounce.

The best place to get a LHD 993RS is probably H&S... see www.911-rs.de
HOWEVER
1) The cars you are looking for are as sought after in Germany and likely to be the same price - if not more - than cars in the UK. Hunt around in the UK
A random copy of Porsche Post PCGB from a month or three back had: 993RS 1995N 62k miles black for 35,995; 996 GT3 2001/Y 9k miles silver for 59,999 - so the prices are not a million miles out if you look in the UK.
2) The cost and hassle of importing from Germany exceeds what it used to be when myself and Scottster bought a few cars back in the late 90s. It will cost at least 1.5-2k and take about 1-2 months before the car is on the road and registered.
Because of the narrow price difference, I guess you would be lucky to save a grand, maybe two, on a 40k car,but at much greater risk and much greater hassle than sourcing it from the UK (where you speak the lingo and have more support). Personally, I wouldn't put up with the hassle and risk for *maybe* making a small saving.

Agreed. I bought a 964 a few years ago and it was really easy, but now it's much harder and more expensive to arrange the import and registration.
If you want lhd, then the UK prices are often cheaper or very close to euro prices, after the recent strength in euro.
Regarding Auto-Salon Singen, I was there about 3 weeks ago and whilst it is a good dealership and they have some great cars, it is not anywhere as big as is implied on the website. They only have about 80 cars in stock of all makes, whereas the website shows about 500 cars. The remainder of cars they 'know the seller' rather than own.
Looking at mobile.de, the cheapest three 993 RS's are 56k euros, 63k euros and 65k euros (cars are black 100km, black 60km and silver 45km respectively). This equates to £39k, £44k and £45k respectively (before de-registration, transport, compliance and re-registration costs)..........
As for GT3s, make sure they are genuine GT3, not GT3 bodykit (check for 265kW or 360PS in power rating). There are several in the 65k euro to 70k euro range ie £45-49k, probably £47k-£51k landed.
In conclusion, there are better priced 993RS's already in the UK and also similar priced GT3s already here.
