I have a BMW 530d with professional sat nav. As far as I can tell from the manual with the traffic info enabled, it should reroute you around any known jams. This simple does not work; I do however get a message at start up that “there are traffic problems on your route” but no further information. I had despaired with this aspect of the system, until I was in France when it worked exactly as advertised and said “there are traffic problems on your route, do you require a reroute” when confirmed the system took me around the problem area - just as I thought it should. Is there any reason that this system does not work in the UK? Alternatively, do I have the system set up incorrectly? The disc is 2006 and the traffic info is enabled

Any one with any ideas?

Martin,

Is the route selection set to 'Dynamic'. I had a 120d and it would auto re-route when set to dynamic.

I have a Z4 now with the older system so I can't check if my memory is correct!

I have a 2006/7 Z4M and the satnav picks up TMC data from classic FM (only UK channel) You need to have TMC selected and then you can scroll down traffic messages. It also calls your attention to close problems. You then have to press select to request a route diversion. It seemed to work fine on a recent 500mile trip down to the home counties / M25 last week. It did seem overwhelmed though by increasing gridlock due to the bad weather! You can of course leave it tuned to classic FM and listen to the CD. Any other radio ststion will switch off TMC. Maybe in France you were listening to the TMC channel?

Not quite correct - the BMW units have dual tuners so that one can stay locked in on Classic, whilst the other lets you listen to another station.

Do you need to tell the TMC tuner what station to find the TMC info on? Or does it automatically switch or scroll through a list?

My system allows classic FM to be tuned and the radio to be used normally. The TMC is enabled and dynamic drive is selected. Do I understand that you have to scroll down the traffic problems and then select one to avoid?

Thanks for the responses

If I tune to any other radio station than classic FM the TMC logo goes red so I assume it's no longer being updated and that seems to be the case.
