Thinking about buying one.

What are peoples opinion of them? Good and bad points?

What have you been able to tune them to?

What mpg do you get from them?

Thanks

I have a 1.7(80bhp) diesel (05reg)

done 60k miles, never missed a beat. great work horse. I have a tuned vx220 turbo so no need to tune my astra.

30quid of shell vpower diesel will get about 370miles.

Shouldnt go wrong with one, nippy enough for town driving although depending on what your used to you may find it a little sluggish beyond 60mph. The 1.7 seems to give up at around 80mph.

The 1.9 is supposed to be superior car in terms of performance and I believe comes with a sports button. I have heard good reports from owners of the 1.9.

I had a 1.7 CDTI SXI (100bhp)as a company hack for a couple of years.

It was ok, nothing exciting but ok. It was nippy, would cruise all day at 90 and top out at 110.

I put about 50k on it in 2 years and it was fine, although the turbo went pop pretty much as soon as I gave it back.

I've now got a 1.9 Cdti (150bhp) its considerably quicker but thats about it.

If you need any more specific info just ask.

The 1.7 can have a Sport button (why; I don't know...)
You need the SRi spec.
