Hi All,
I have read a few things about bad radio reception on the Monaro and wondered it there is anything i can do to make it better? 99% of the time i have my CD's playing as loud as they can go but the radio sometimes is needed and it's really bad. Or Can i fit another Good system i.e Kenwood, Sony e.t.c
One last thing my stero's volume is quite loud but the volume gets to a point but doesnt get any louder but the level show on the dash goes higher but the real volume stays the same. how can i over come this????

Get the loud Wortec exhaust. Doesn't do anything for the radio/cd, but who cares?

I never switch mine on...

However, check out the FAQ and the 2 sections on upgrading the stereo.

I got a double din kit from Oz for 56 quid inc carriage. Yet to check it for match but first impressions were it looked ok, came with leads and aerial adaptor. Also picked up a single din adaptor from Ebay for around 15 quid so I have the option when I finally rip the head unit and speakers out. So kits to fit aftermarket heads are available but note the speakes supplied with car are all 2ohm and will probably need replaced as well. You can also tweak the amp in the boot to give a bit more base to the standard setup. Check the faqs and the ls1gto forums for all the info you'll need on audio.

You can adjust the amp up I believe.
It's in the boot behind the trapdoor on the left.
You can't see the adjusting knobs but you have to feel for them I think.

Do you really play everything at full volume all the time and think it shoud be louder?

May I respectfully suggest that you may actually be going a bit mutton?

I believe the radio has a setting that ensures no distortion, reardless of how loud you turn it up. This effectively keeps the volume down. Check in the settings for the radio and it should highlight whether the function is on or off. Try turning it off, it may make the difference your looking for.

I cant find a option on the radio anywhere its not in the "EQ" settings when on or off. Maybe its a combo of pushing 2 buttons at the same time. Does anyone know how to turn the volume thing off???
Poxy radio lol

I cant find any menu that can turn it off. I might have to put my ear closer to the speaker instead lol

Just looked in the 'Radio Handbook' : (Options Menu Adjustment)

1: Turn Off Radio
2: Push & Hold the 'On' button & Preset button (bottom left), until the display shows 'Options Menu'then release the buttons.
3: Press the volume knob briefly to scroll through the options & their current settings.
4: Turn the knob clockwise or anti-clockwise to adjust displayed setting.
5: When the adjustments have been made press the off button to exit menu.

Of course this doesn't answer the poor reception problem, which I agree with.

I reckon the only answer would be to fit a proper antenna, not the mickey mouse heated screen job!! Spoil the clean lines of the car though.. Anyone know another way of improving it??

RDS on the ECU would be even better - Automatically retunes every time you go to have an upgrade.........
As for the exhaust, i have not played a CD in months after Wortec sorted it...!
