Just did a long run in the wet, just over 300 miles on one tankfull. I think this works out to about 28 MPG (Chimaera tank about 50 litres=11 gallons), I drive this car every day but normally only get about 18 MPG, must be hooning it on the way to work .

At Easter, I drove from London to Glasgow starting on a not quite full tank.
When I pulled into services, the odometer showed 230 miles- but the fuel guage indicated well above 1/4 tank.
I thought the range on a Chimaera was around 250 miles to a tank but I know I could have cleared 300 if I hadn't been hungry!
I had a passenger and a boot full of luggage btw..

With a Mark Adams chip and nursing a slipping clutch, I once managed 35mpg. Was monumentally dull though and at 80mph I was being overtaken by everything!.

I got 100 miles out of a quarter tank on A303/M3 the other week . . .then noticed how little I got between 3/4 and 1/2 full!! - So I don't reckon it would have been anywhere near 400 to the tank!

I heard that the firestorm jet car ( at pistonfest)uses 250 gallons of fuel to do a quarter mile sprint so i guess if he was careful he might see 280 gallons per mile

I got 16.3 mpg when we went to Rockingham. But that included a lot of 5mph stuff around the car parks at the start, a lot of 0mph waiting to take the drivers round, some more 5-10mph exhibiting the drivers (and cheer leaders!) around the track. Then lighting up the rears in front of the pits. And some more slow stuff.

Usually get 22mpg on a run.

I was made up to get 25.6 MPG comming back from piston fest, usually get 14 - 18 MPG !!! Lots of short journeys + some medium normally. Helps now I'm not spraying petrol over the exhaust with a split petrol hose!

28 to the gallon - jesus! either 5litres really eat full or I have a lead foot.

MILES 180 190 200 210 220 230 240
MPG 15.1 16 16.8 17.6 18.5 19.3 20.2
I have never beaten 235 on a tank and that was pootling. Now get about 190 - 200 on a 11.95 (average) gallon take. Maybe I should wind out the screw on th back of the accelerator!

I'm not sure about all models but my 97 450 has a 12.7 gallon tank. I'm getting 14-16 mpg - scary fuel consumption but lots and lots of fun - wouldn't trade that for anything..........

To paraphrase a previous posting "driving like a nun in slippers" I managed 29mpg driving from Surrey to north Wales in my 4litre. I had put a couple of extra pounds in the tyres. Just had it serviced and wondered what it would do on a very long leisurely run.
No idea what I got on the way home as having got that question out of my mind I put my lead boots back on.
