any ideas as to why the exhausts are not linked with a balance pipe?

If I fit a larger diameter exhaust with less silencers will it require a balance pipe & also how far will it need to be from the engine?

There's nowhere to put it except right at the back, perhaps just in front of the tank. Anywhere else and it'll have to run under the chassis rails and be too close to the ground.

Mike's not linked: I use the 'Double S' stainless manifolds that Scimpart used to sell - I think Graham Walker have them now - and made up the rest myself using off-the-shelf boxes and bends from Jetex.

It's a very simple system to make, but for road use there's not much wrong with the rest of the Double S setup either, and you can get a good shine on the bits at the back if you want to.

I junked the front boxes a couple of years ago and I'm contemplating switching to a single box across the back, but I can't do that until I've moved the fuel tank and a it'll depend on how light - and cheap - a box I can find to do the job.
