Just grabbed a copy of “Car- October 07” today, and midway through the article on the new Macf1 it mentions that prototypes have been seen out testing with F430 bodies and Ultima bodies to disguise the prototypes!!!!!

Anyone else seen anything?

Oh the irony of them using the 430 body for testing!

He-he.

I have not heard anything about recent tests, but had the pleasure of meeting an engineer chap that worked on the F1 at Mac while the original Ultima tests were going. He said that the only thing they used the Ultima for was aero...nothing else. I don't know if that's right, but the guy had some credentials. He also worked for Saleen and Merc.

Given the detail on the Ultima website it seems likely that he was misinformed.

See that! You just can believe anything anyone says. I wonder if he even worked there. I am going to get that guy's résumé and check his references before I hire him to design my next supercar. wink

Extremely unlikely that they are paying the price required by Ferrari for panels to be used on a mule. Also likely that they would want the car to look better than what would be possible with panels from an F430.

Well, I have it from a VERY reliable source, that more than one car has made its way recently to McLaren - and not just bodies...

Gotta be good for the credibility of the marque - now stick that in your pipe Clarkson and smoke it!

I once bought a load of Ultima parts that had come from Aston martin... apparently they had bought a few kits to research doing a mid engined Aston.

Sorry, I'd forgotten about all that! I just couldn't wait to put it out of my mind.
