Ahh.. everybody loves the old Mercs

The owners club met up at Brooklands and it seems were let onto the old track for photos!

Weird to think they are that old, especially when they feel so incredibly modern on the road.

Since moving (partly) on from the 190 (to a 206) I am beginning to appreciate it more. Quite simply, it's just the combination of all the great Mercedes qualities from their best era, plus the fact it's a sensible size, good handling, economical and goes well; and they aren't too old to be used daily drivers. Recommend checking one out - the higher spec the better (cosworths fall into a different category and require a totally different mindset). I'm even beginning to like the shape more and more, though I'm still not that struck on some of the details.

This pic is pretty neat:

Moved on to a 206?! yikes
Please say it's not the Cosworth which has gone!

What an awesome set of photos there! Thanks again Pento thumbup

Nope still have the cosworth, brought it to work today in fact! The 2.0 auto was replaced although I still actually have it as it feels too nice to sell. Nothing wrong with it but just got bored! I suspect a suspension refresh and some tidying up on the bodywork would make me love it again but these things get expensive and you've got to draw a line somewhere!

If anyone's interested it's got 119k miles, 1986 blue-black metallic (same colour as the cosworths often are) 2.0 switchable auto with cream interior and loads of options. 1 previous owner from new, think the car was garaged as it's almost entirely rust-free.

Oh I forgot to answer your question.. the right hand drive Evo I isn't an Evo I at all... it's a UK 2.3-16, but the owner practically rebuilt it to look like an Evo I. Lots of work involved, and lots of ££ involved at the dealers obtaining genuine Evo I spoilers etc.
