Well that's it for "svelte" then. Perhaps the XJ name should be laid to rest.
But I'll be interested to see it for real. Ian Calumns Jags just don't seem to come out right in photos. I've still not seen a single picture of the new XK that does the real car justice.

Why have they followed the Germans down the path of who can stick the biggest mouth on the front competition?
Are all the new fronts mandated by recent legislation?
Is it the cooling requirements of the current horse power arms race? To get 500BHP out of a super charged engine, what sort of power does in need to generate? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 380BHP 4.0 engine made 450, but the supercharger then used 70BHP.

Thanks for the pointer.

Have you seen how popular the Crysler 300C has been.....................mind you its £20k, not the expected £60k+ for the Jag.

I hope it doesn't look to much like the XF, because if that doesn't sell nor will it!

All in all, not quite as 'exciting' as I had hoped, but still really like it.

I think I kind of like it.
The front looks better than the face lifted X350.
I was just commenting that it is not svelte, it's not what the XJ has always been about. As the article says, Ian is a fan on the MkX and is more harking back to that. The pre XJ saloons were very different, who doesn't like the Mk2 etc. but it wasn't the low sleek cat like vehicle that we've come to associate with the Marque since then.
Hence my comment that if this is the new car, then I think it should have a new name.

Let's face it, they need new

I still love my X300, I'm not planning to sell it. But I'd except that it's reached it's sell but date.

This seems like an effort to be a 4 door super coupe and that seems a fitting direction to take Jaguar in.

Can't wait to actually see one.

Come on gents!

You all should know by now not to trust any "photo-chops" the magazines put out. How wrong did they get the XF.

Alas no, I didn't get to see anything of the new XJ before I left and will have to wait like all the other mere mortals! Still I've been in the business long enough to know the mags rarely get anything right, i.e. Peugeot designed the V6 & V8 diesels furiousshoot

O/T: This will piss-off a few here, Jaguar have announced the US price for the base V8 XF of $49975! Of course add on sales tax & god knows what other charges and it will be beyond $55000, but when I move to the US next year there is very slim chance I could afford one! woohoo

And with the way the exchange rate is going, that could be sub £20K weeping
No wonder they are finding it hard to make ends meet.

WTF! Really pi$$es me off stiff like that and they have cheaper petrol to boot. Just filled up at 100.9p/ltr, first time ever in my life. I guess there is only one way it will go from now on.

The US$ will drop back down to £1:$1.50 again at some point in future, which I am sure what the motor manufacturers are planning on long term. C'mon chaps just get used to rip-off Britain and take it like a man!!!! hehe
