Hello

I took delivery of my new (to me) Z4M Coupe last week, it was DoctorD's old car, and I'm really happy with it.

The ONLY thing that is dissapointing it the exhaust...it's imply not loud enough. I'd like to know if anyone makes an aftermarket exhaust that won't invaluidate the BMW warranty.

I had an Eisenmann on my old Z3M Coupe but I don't think that will be loud enough now. I know I'm not gonna get pops and bangs on the over-run like I do with the Tiv but I would like the BM to sound as fast as it goes.

Any info would be much appreciated.

TIA

Hoolio

I have Supersprint Decat and Full Superspritn system. Sounds very good, is quiet when you are driving normally then lets rip when you put your foot down. It is also very deep sounding but with no resonance at all.

I would say though if you want loud they may not be for you......smile if you are anywhere near the South Coast your welcome to come and listen!

I'm VERY interested in a possible H&S exhaust deal- any idea on prices? I was going to go the AC Schnitzer route but that attraction as lessened as the cost of the sports system is £1450 and now BMW are going their own way with accessories.

Speaking of which, does anyone have any details of BMWs on forthcoming sports accessories which I hear from the dealer network may be released later this year?

As for the T350c, having had one previously, I found the Z4MC is suprisingly similar

i actually think the standard system sounds awesome, but sadly i dont no if its just mine but when under constant load i.e going up a steady incline at 50/60 ish , 5 th gear the drone it creates is horrific, but imo it does sound so much better here than in the e46 m3, much deeper but with the rasp still apparent. Im hoping the gain a CA automotive induction kit very soon and a FULL exhaust system which replaces the cats with high flow 100/200 cell items, id love to know the bhp gain for a full system if their is any.

heres the induction system which imo is very impressive:

with a full system surely this should liv=berate a decent BHP gain.

I fitted Remus back boxes to my Z4MC. It is an improvement on standard but still quiet.

Hear/see it here:

That's my car in the video. Would be happy to let people hear the exhaust in person if they wanted to see it before parting with the cash.

H&S charged me £800 for the cat back. Each system is built onto the car, and hand-made from scratch (no pre-built silencers here!). I would not expect to see a huge discount off that price for a bulk purchase as such. But, the price for the system even at "full" cost is cheaper than nearly all the other aftermarket solutions out there (and IMO sounds better! wink). The H&S cat-back replaces the rear silencers, and the X-pipe. Most other 3rd party aftermarket systems out there only replace the rear silencers for that kind of money...

I've had the car on two rolling road days since, and have consistantly run about 5-6bhp and approx 10lb/ft higher (peak figures) over standard Z4M's on the same day. How much is down to the exhaust, and how much to the Gruppe filter, I can't confirm.

The exhaust price has not as yet been set, although it is likely to be around the figure discussed, can't discuss prices on here so if you're interested please email or PM me. The exhaust will also not be the same as the one Sixspeed has on his car as it's being developed exclusively for us by H&S to an agreed specification, it will also be tested extensively on track and on the rolling road to ensure that it actually works rather than just sounding glorious

Sounds interesting. Will be interested to see what further improvements can be made from just a cat-back system!

To anyone else interested in the system above that is fitted to my car, H&S have a lot of experience in developing and building exhausts, and the system they built for me certainly made a noticeable improvement in the mid and top end. It's a shame I didn't get any back-to-back tests with the standard and H&S system, but as I said, I have been on RR days with standard Z4Ms and the torque curve is a lot fatter low-down, with the higher peak figures as described above.

Steveoh, I agree with you about the similarities with modern TVRs. I had a Tuscan a few years back now, and the Z4M had a very similar feel!

That fliter on the CA web site looks like a mushroom HKS. I know these are not thought of very highly in some of the scooby forums as they are said to have larger holes in the filter compared to other products, which can let crap through and cause damage to the turbos...although you often see them on EVO mitsubishi's! May want to ask if it is one of the HKS variety and get CAs comments on it.

A box like that is only any good withpout the MAF and some cams to make use of the extra air, looks nice though, H&S exhaust will be ready within the next 2 weeks or so

That "drone" you talk about is standard on al Z4m. I drive a roadster and that nice id dreadfull until revs pick up.
