just been quoted £365 to have my foglight replaced. the glass has a hole in it, i only want the sodding glass not the whole thing and for £365 i'm putting up with a hole in it.... (the £365 is including labour and vat. not sure why they thought that would make it sound better!)

anyone come across this before and found a cheaper solution ? i'm assuming it IS possible to get just the glass ?

Mine have both had holes in and been rusted away for a couple of years now. Pointless replacing them, and they're pointless lights anyway which I never used even when they worked. Would be nice to get colour-matched blanking plates to fit over them so they don't look so rubbish, they do spoil the look of the car from the front.

Will have to check to see if they are the same fog lights, but had to replace mine in the commodore, so you might be able to get the glass off it. Not sure though, but if you want can try and see if I can pull mine apart. Although, i am pretty sure that you can't otherwise would have just gotten a bulb for mine, as I believe they may be a sealed unit. Anyhow, will let you know. Don't know that they are the same lights as what is on the monaro.

They cost about £125 and are easy to fit yourself!

Try www.gmpartsdirect.com/ from the USA. Get the part number from your dealer. So far everything I have priced up from Vauxhall appears automatically 3X what it is the USA.

£365 for a foglight? gulp!
£125 sounds a bit more like it.
The HSV stuff is always more exy though.
Pretty sure you cannot get the glass for foglights separately from Holden/HSV.

If its a 6L vxr £125 is correct and 5 minutes to fit, unplug wire from under bumper 2 x bolts each side of lamp (8mm i think)also easy to get at under the bumper.Pop it out the bumper and fit the new one.

Looked about 3 years ago for a friend who had a Fezza - £800+ for a fog light (What are you moaning at???) found a company that welded the glass at a far cheaper rate. Sorry but so long ago that I can't remember their details. If all else fails, have a look on the internet for this.

thanks for your input guys, i wasn't going to pay £365 anyway, you can't even see the hole unless you happen to be on your hands and knees washing the front of the car ! i will investigate the cheaper options (and people to buy it from!!)

cheers

I have to say that all the prices being bounced around for a little fog light seem ridiculas to me!! If they are that expensive then Id make something up from your local halfords!! eek

A bit of silcon should do it... My next door neighbour in portsmouth repaired his gutter with it. All of it was silicon in the end. Would have thought that it would have been cheaper to get a new gutter, but anyhow..
