Morning all. Got caught in a flood last night.
Water about half a foot before the door window.

Friend looking at it now, he said water coming out of everywhere but the pistons seem to be working fine...he's hoping it may dry out???
Car is a 330ci Auto

We think it got into air filter - does anyone know if this would this be very damaging? (seeing though pistons working?)

(As you may be able to tell, I know nothing about engines!)

thanks in advance

I don't live in Blackpool.

Friend has got the car running and seems to sound okay - air filter soaked so will replace with new - you guys think this will be fine?

Might be best to leave the car to 'air' for a few days and certainly change the air filter. I'd consider getting to taken to a dealership for a health check on a lo-loader for double safeness. Bent pistons etc not good.

If the engine did not run in the water it is unlikely the engine ingested any,
Its prabably prudent to let the car dry completly.

I would be warey that anything you do now does not invalidate a future possible claim on your insurance?

it's been dried out, changed air filter and it's working!
rev's are ticking over just slightly higher than usual, so may have to change the (air regulator? bit in between the filter and the pipes to the engine)

but seems to be running fine

I've had a lot of conversations with our technicians about flooded cars as one our dealers alone had 70+ cars in to fix when the floods hit last summer. You had to swim through the service department for weeks, with arm bands hehe I did take some photos of really knackered pistons etc but deleted them in error when sorting out my phone's new memory stick, ffs.

Change the autobox oil - as the slightest amount of water in will turn it into a pink froth.
