DMS E60 M5 help?
Discussion
Hi,
I have recently changed my remapped 535d for an E60 M5 and as rightfully pointed out in the forum it would leave the 535d for dust.I am interested in going back to DMS and want to know how other M5 drivers have found the remap as the the 535d remap did make a big difference.
If you ever look on YouTube there is an M5 called the Kelleners which has a remap and exhaust work giving it 55bhp of extra punch, not as much as the DMS mod, but close enough to compare. The Kelleners is considerably quicker that the stock car as you can see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d0L-X1sUNk . If you watch other videos with that car racing lambos and 997's it really is a proverbial tarmac rogue! lol
Can anyone else share their thoughts on the DMS remap for the E60 M5 and whether they think the difference is as significant as the Kelleners?
Txs in advance!

I would only let DMS touch any of my cars, after all if you spend 55k on a car you dont want a cheap crude superchip forged in a factory in China... lol ( Lets wait for the slating and defensiveness from the superchips people. Its without prejudice guys! )
I just feel that the car needs a little bit more from 3rd on and also hope they release a 4wd M5 some day, dont know about anyone else but my conti sports loose it of the road is even any way greasy. Thankfully i'm told the remap kicks in from 3rd gear which takes her to the 70mph all weather traction mark.

I hope they dont bring out a 4wd M5, it will ruin its characteristics and lose its edge. 4WD eats acceleration once rolling, a real acceleration killer.
I am thinking of re-mapping soon. DMS provide a warranty. I do like that aspect of them. A very reputable and well established company too.

I think what you are after is more "Bottom end" torque, the M5 has little or nothing under 5K RPM, thats what put me off it, you can.t really use the power is has as std nevermind superchipping it.I have recently changed my remapped 535d for an E60 M5 and as rightfully pointed out in the forum it would leave the 535d for dust.I am interested in going back to DMS and want to know how other M5 drivers have found the remap as the the 535d remap did make a big difference.

John,
Its def not bottom end torque that I am looking for, if that where the case I would have stuck with my 535d. Also, if the m5 had much more bottom end torque the traction problems would be severe.
I have a friend with a Porsche 997, he is quicker that me, but the 997 cannot get away from the Kelleners because they have that little extra power from 3rd gear onward. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG0knICW_bs
Anyone with a remapped DMS m5 about ?

I would be suprise if the remap did anything on an M5.
You get about 45 bhp from a remap and an exhaust system.£4000.
Hardly worth it.
So 45bhp from just a chip and ecu?
I would think if there are any gains at all, at most 10 or 20bhp. And even then only if the vanos timing profile is changed.
DMS upgrade on the M6 was £1600 or so for about 50bhp and the delimit. Whilst I can't say that the difference was as noticeable as say a chipped 535d, it was certainly a little more urgent.
I'd probably do it again, certainly seemed quicker than the standard car, although I never did get to try the delimit
