Availability of E36 M3 Saloon ??
Discussion
Hi all..
I've started to do some homework on buying an E36 M3 Saloon , with the sole intention of finding one in Arctic Silver with Black leather and a Manual box. It will be my first M3 , and the saloon choice is purely for practicality's sake. Also I like the more subtle / discreet lines of the saloon.
I wont be in a position to buy the car for a couple of months ( circa June ), but I want to make the RIGHT choice FIRST TIME !!
What exactly should i be looking for with such a car , with regards to pitfalls etc ?
Naturally I want a fully BMW stamped service book.
I'm 34 , with 5 years NCB , so insurance shouldnt be a problem.
Are their many cars out there with my desired options ? And , what kind of prices should i be expecting for a late a model as possible ?
Thanks for any help.

There weren't a huge amount of Evo saloons produced, so not usually many on the market at any one time - summer tends to be the worst time for buying, too.
The usual M3 pitfalls apply, I can't think of anything particular to the saloon.
If you want the ultimate Q car, try to find one without a spoiler.
Also don't be too fussy on it being BMW stamps in the book - there are plenty of decent specialists out there that walk all over main dealers for knowledge, ability and price.
You should always buy an M3 on condition and history over anything else.
Incidentally, you're making an excellent choice - I had an M3 Evo saloon in Cosmos Black with black interior and no spoiler - very subtle, very fast, and a bit like driving around in Darth Vadar's helmet!
ETA - you ought to be able to pick up a good, low mileage car for £6-7k.

OOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo now there's a thought :-)
The more subtle the better.
Incidentally , an example in Avus Blue would more than likely sway me from solely wanting one in Arctic Silver ...
There are currently 2 nice examples here on piston heads :

Alas , 4 months too early for me to be in a position to buy them :-(

Mine has (or should that be had) that interior although it might be slightly different. Buffalo hide and walnut trim, mines in light grey but doesn't have the nets on the rear of the front seats otherwise looks the same.
The seats are up for sale as it's been turned into a track car, door cards may go with it but I need something to replace the fronts with.
