fellow enthusiasts been looking for an e46 convert for a while and after being obsessed with getting a carbon black on black combination i have come across a reasonably priced estoril blue with grey leather which has made me stop and consider purely because of the price. are they usually cheaper or are they sought after? IMO you cant go wrong with carbon black its a decisive slick and to the point colour for the refined man ..with silver it brings out the curves and features of the bodywork more and looks great in the summer, sparkling with the matching silver-ishness of the wheels. whereas estoril blue to me is possibly a bit boy-racer ish?immature? lady-like? but undoubtedly beautiful. Im 29 and am past the 'look at me' stage of my youth much prefer the simple boring things in life...what do you think should estoril blue be a no no?

it depends what you like really but i was dead set on carbon black with red leather and couldnt find the right one. i had cash burning a hole in my pocket and no m3 as my e36 evo had been sold to fund the e46. i was offered an estoril blue with grey which was good money and very very tidy,i couldnt make my mind up and was getting a bit desperate to get a car. in the end i waited and a black/red one came up and i bought it. i am glad i waited as to be honest there is loads of choice and if you hold out you will get exactly what you want (black/black).if you have the blue one every time you see black/black you will have wished you had waited.
i am obviously a fan of black/red but out of the two you mention id take black/black everytime- (youll look like a drug dealer though)
good luck

Nothing wrong with Estoril, but grey leather is a crime.

You are looking way too much into colours. Just go look at it, if you like it then buy it. I absolutely hated black cars till I took a look at a purlpley-black (carbon black?) M5, but really could not be arsed to clean it after every journey.
As you say yourself, estoril is beautiful, not boy-racery, or immature, for such features just look out for the M3 bages everywhere and the 19" chrome wheels.
The car will be yours, not those who are or those you wish to be ogling it from across the road...
