Hi

I have managed to get hold of a genuine BMW 6 CD Multichanger (P/No 65.12-6 956 939) for my 05 530D Sport. Obviously my car just has a single slot CD and was wondering if I will need any type of fitting kit to install the multichanger into the glove box.

Many Thanks

Ben

The mounting plate should be already there for you.
Drop the plastic back of the glove box and to the right should be a rectangle bracket for it to slot into.
The wiring should also be there for it,maybe tied back or wrapped up in tape. Also there maybe some additional work needed with the MOST plug(optic fibre)and IKT connector.

We are having a few problems with the bracket at the mo putting stress on the multi changer and causing the cd magazine to jam and not eject or at worse the cd elevator to fail.
What you need to do is ensure the multi changer slides in without force.you should be able to push it with 2 fingers with no resistance same with taking it out.
Before you fit it you need to remove 1 screw from the mounting bracket-this is also to releive any pressure on the unit. The bracket is held in by 3 screws...2 are at the top as you will see and there is one to the right(inside the bracket where the changer slides into)you must remove the one on the right (torx 20).

If the bracket isnt there and thats rare you can buy the fitting kit.

In addition to this you will likely to need to have the vehicle progammed, this iss to tell the MASK or CCC depending on your spec that a new control unit has been retrofitted.Gone are the days of plug and play.
