Had the system fail over the weekend, so when she goes in for her first service in the next few weeks, it'll be number 1 on the very short list of things to sort. Have done a search, but can't find anything on here to suggest it's a common fault, or a 1-off... Anyone else had this problem come up so soon?

Has anyone washed the car with a pressure washer or even a high pressure blast from a conventional hose pipe?

Sadly, it's not gone near a hosepipe/car wash for a long time... paperbag there's been no contact with the sensors at all, bar a gentle wipe with a damp cloth after it started to play up - I wondered if there was something on the sensors...

My PDC has failed too. Although its on an 04 E63. System would occasionally tell me it received no signal, but would then start working. Last week just packed up totally, as soon as you switch the ignition on the failure message pops up on the in dash screen.

Going in to stealers tomorrow so the story will go

1. The unit has failed(told them that when I booked it in)
2. Don't have it in stock and it will be 2 days before they get a replacement
3. Then it will be the wrong part they sent, and will need to go back,
4. They will then feel guilty and give me a courtesy car for messing me around, something crap like a diesel X3.

Just going on past experience of having anything done with the E63 wink

One failed on my 330d at 4 years old - £20 oem replacement off eBay and five minutes work!

Could have been damaged in many ways - such as in a car park by another car backing into it lightly.

I've had this - front ones especially are prone to on-road damage - just one of those things, bit like the good old days of glass fog-lights on the E36 Coupe - never needed to wash one as they were always getting replaced....

Well even worse than usual, it will be 4-5 weeks before they get the replacement PDC/sensors!! as they have to be colour matched to the car. Lot of horrocks if you ask me, I will be enquiring exactly what needs done when I pick it up later

Look on the bright side.. at least they didn't accuse you of reversing into something! hehe

Not yet anyway, damn difficult to see out the back of the 6, dont realise how much you use the sensors until its not working!

Just thought I'd update this thread having not long gotten back from Green Bower BMW in Haverfordwest.

They diagnosed a faulty front sensor when it went in for it's first oil service 2 weeks ago, and ordered one there and then. Had it fitted first thing this morning along with a new nearside dipped bulb (at no charge!!), and returned back to me cleaned inside and out in just over an hour.

I was kept very satisfied with regular cups of tea coffee, whilst sitting in the quiet hand-over area (trying to keep the work demons at bay! irkedtype).

Top notch and faultless customer service, a big thanks and thumbs up to Green Bower thumbup and Elaine!angel
