My 328 has recently got really awkward when in first and sometimes 2nd gear. If i accelerate hard in 1st the car will lurch forward then stop, lurch forward the stop etc in a 'bunny hopping' fashion.

Is this an easily diagnosed problem? I have booked it in the garage to be looked at over the weekend, but i'd like to go with some sort of knowledge as to whats going on!

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Have you tried it with the traction control off? Could it be a faulty sensor and its bringing in the traction control way too early?

Check the large rubber hose which is attached to your air flow meater (has some ribbs around it usually) for any cracks / holes. Even the smallest of holes in this can cause what your describing.
If you've booked it into the garage and described to them over the phone whats going on, i'm very suprised that they haven't already told you to check what i've written above.

Let us know how you get on please.

I had the same symptons on my M42 and that was the cause. Racing tape fixes it no problems until the replacement gets in.
