If I'm not very much mistaken the last 100 Griffiths were designated 'Special Edition' and say so on the rear badge.

So why the heck does everyone - including the people who bought them - seem to insist on calling them 'LE' (for 'Limited Edition')? Makes it sound like a badged-up Ford Escort!

The Rear Badge was an after thought, mine - 001/100 - has the earlier Griffith 500 rear badge. The plague and handbook (which are both numbered) both say "Special" not limited as I thought, but I sure it does say Limited to 100

Edit to correct Special/Limited bit!

Sure mine's got 1.9TDi on the back. I wondered how that Skoda beat me away from the lights.

That's to fool Plod, right? So when they pull you up for speeding you can point to the '1.9TDi' badge and they'll say 'Oh, very sorry sir, must have made a mistake, clearly my raygun is overdue for a service, run along and have a nice day, thankyou for my salary kind taxpayer, doff cap...' If only...

Quite right, I also found that placing a sign on the roof saying "Unigate" helped. Talking about those fine gentlemen, t'other day I spotted a mobile tri-pod camera as I turned into a road and proceeded past at between 10 - 15 mph much to the coppers disbelief.

Simpo,

I totally agree and do get frustrated when they are referred to as LE's ... There is no justification for this frustration, but they are definitely SE's !

(At risk of hijacking my own thread) I not only do this but put the hazards on. I have also been known to - umm - make my views known to the Plod on duty. I saw him beckon in a headmasterly fashion at me in the rear view mirror and thought - bollox, I've broken no laws, I'm not going back for 100 lines and detention...'

Opps - checked today it does say "Special Edition" not Limited, but I'm sure I've seen 'Limited to 100' somewhere. Any didn't SE always mean Special Equipment in the old TVR days!

It's not 'Limited' edition but 'Last' edition, ergo LE. I get equally wound up, but only when people refer to them as SE's. Hah!
