So come on chaps, from those who've played both, which is the superior game?? Handling wise, which is more realistic, and more enjoyable to play?

After playing both I would have to say Forza kept me interested for longer, but I think this is purely down to the fact you can modify/paint your car etc. which adds hours on to your gaming time. I think GT5 is definately the better looking game, although there are still a few glitches, I also think the handling is more realistic on GT5.

I think the problem with comparing the two is that your comparing what is effectively a demo with a finished full game. I have no doubt that when the full game is launched GT5 will be the better game; which it should be as it will have had another 2 years worth of development time than Forza.

Amen to that. They're both great games.

Compare like with like! One's a full game that cost 40 quid when it first came out and ones an extended demo that cost 18 quid when it first came out. Wait for the full fat GT5 to come out and we'll carry on this thread then.

Forza 2 easily IMO.

Not quite sure why there are so many Sony fanboy raving about GT5, it really isn't that good, in fact what they've done is quite pathetic. It's no more than a pretty evolution over GT4.

For essentially one of the PS3's 'raison d'tre's' it's almost insulting to fans that they would take so long to release GT5 and then release essentially an aplha version and charge pretty close to full price for it. I mean £20-£25 for a demo is ridiculous, and then you'll have to splash out £40-£50 in a years time.

The sound is rubbish, the tyre screeching particularly annoying. The multiplayer experience is deeply flawed.

The graphics do look nice but then I feel the cars float on the track. The AI appears to be pretty dumb and the cars handling just seems iffy.

In almost every area Forza is better, apart from borderline arguments over graphics - where it is largely subjective, but certainly the difference in graphics quality is miniscule.

Guess its just a way of predicting what it may be like.

Surfergirl (occasional tipster picked up by Kotaku) posted that Forza 3 development began in October, and it's down for a spring/summer 09 release.

For what little it's worth, my mate just traded all his 360 kit plus a PSP & £35 for a PS3 & GT5P from Game. His view is:

"GT5P is pretty in 720p and 1080i with good flow. Chassis tilt is more pronounced than on Forza but grip/slip and collision physics are not as good as Forza."

He doesn't do multiplayer, so I have no idea how that side of things fare. From the videos, it's obviously very pretty.

Ok so I just nipped into my local friendly games shop and had a blast on GT5p for 45mins.

It is RUBBISH.

Looks like GT4, the modeling of the scenery was very flat and not particularly well lit (my profession is lighting for 3d enviroments films/visualisations ect). It actually felt like GT4 as well, and yes I switched it all driving aids off, and put it as much as possible onto a simulation.
I have no idea if there are options to increase the visuals but I doubt it.
The sound was hideous.

Really not impressed.

GT5:Prologue, easily. Your console won't RROD when you play it for starters....

Forza = poo I'm afraid. The following things are wrong with it:-

1) It isn't Gran Turismo.
2) The sound is shocking.
3) The handling seems completely unrelated to any car I've ever driven. In fact it seems closer to Wipeout than GT with the pathetic way the cars skim over the surface. There's no sense of the tyres digging in you get with GT, and the weight transfer of the games was all wrong.
4) It isn't Gran Turismo.
5) The paintshop is quaint. How very Need for Speed. Combine it with the modding you can make your very own Barrymobile in minutes. Great! Has anyone told Max Power?
6) The tracks, or rather Forza's attempts to simulate real tracks. They all look like leafy B-roads to me :|
7) It isn't Gran Turismo.
8) You have to use MS peripherals to control it, which are inherently toss.
9) Have I mentioned that it isn't Gran Turismo yet?

Need I go on? As you can tell, I don't like Forza very much. At least it's better than PGR. Mind, that's like saying my car's better than a Y-Reg Austin Maestro 1.3 in beige with one door mirror and no headrests. What isn't?

Yeah it's RUBBISH and looks like GT4!!!!!

Either:
  1. Your not very good at your profession
  2. You played it on a 14" TV from 10 feet away
  3. You need to go to
  4. You've lost the way back to your bridge?
I'll give you GT5 isn't perfect, but to call it rubbish for £20 is just 'a bit mental' silly

...or maybe the OP was doing us all a favour with this thread, it seems to have captured all the under bridge dwellers in one place and kept them out of the other GT5:P threads...scratchchin

Hey I've just noticed, if you colour that smiley in red you get an Xbox 360 simulator!
