Golf MkV - opinions?

Just perusing the company car list that goes with my new job - it looks like a straight choice between the Golf TDI GT Sport (140hp) and an Astra SRi CDTi (150hp).
Having just stepped out of an old-shape Leon Cupra TDI, it should be a no-brainer: Golf wins. I've just looked at the reader reviews on What Car and there seem to be lots of complaints about the quality (or otherwise) of the Golf. Anyone care to enlighten me with good/bad experiences?

Can't help on the reliability, but also noticed all the bad postings on Whatcar - I had been thinking of an early MKV tdi to replace the BMW when I go back to working locally, and have been put off by all the rants about reliability...

Will be interested to see what people on here say...

I bought my 1.9 TDI Sport in 2005 and had it for 2 years. Nothing went wrong on it, never had any issues at all except a puncture to a tyre. Only sold it so I could afford a deposit for my house and got a Mk4, which I've had a host of problems with!

the mk6 golf is out in september, can you wait till then?
