Where is the best place to sell?

Hi All,

I am thinking of selling my 2006 525D tourer (loads of toys incl. pro sat, xenons etc) and would like some views on the best way to sell. Normally I just part exchange my old car at a dealer but this one is only 2 years old so it still has a years BMW warranty left. I figure a buyer is getting nearly as much piece of mind as they would buying from a main dealer so private sale should be OK. Wife wants a Verso and I want an old Porsche so P/Ex is not really viable this time.

So, whats the best way to sell. I was thinking Pistonheads advert and ebay auction with suitable reserve. Any other ideas.

Also, any views on the best way to except payment. It seems that these days nothing except cash is guaranteed by the banks. Even when they except a bankers draft they can come back a couple of weeks later and say it has not been honoured. Is an electronic bank transfer such as used with mortgages a safe method??

I would say advertise it on here, take some nice pictures, give it a good write up.

Re taking the money, I would ask for a cash deposit then get the person to take you to their bank, get the bankers draft drawn in front of you, walk it to your bank, put it in....

Give them the keys..
