HELP!! E46 Convert drivers door won't open from outside!!!

Hi guys

Took delivery of my E46 Convert private sale, everything was fine until i got home!! The drivers door won't open from outside, was fine at the sellers place and a few hours after but then started to play up. Can open from inside.

Due a brake fluid change and will get BMW to sort it but is this a common problem? How much to fix/time etc.

The cable for the handle has more than likely come off...quite common...very easily fixed with a cable tie...
Door panel,and membrane requires removal to get to the area

I've just had this problem in the past week, mine was due to the plastic sleeve in which the cable slides when the door handle is pulled coming out of its holding slot on the inside of the door. pain in the a*se to slot the thing back in as the access is very tight. need to remove the door card, then the membrane, and with the door glass up fiddle around with the cable- the problem bit is at the rear of the handle.... it's really tight. i needed to release the handle itself to move it around a bit just to see the darn slot. took about an hour of fiddling. i araldited the thing in situ when it was in. be prepared for a long haul- maybe you will be lucky. enjoy!

Car is due a brake/oil service at Sytner Coventry 2mrow and told them to sort it. It appears as tho this is a common problem so hopefully they shouldn't charge an arm, a leg and another arm!
