On the way to Mania on Saturday a saloon came up behind me on the exit of a roundabout obviously trying it on.

Normally depending on road conditions etc this situation is dealt with by flooring the accelerator and watching the other car fade in the rear view mirror.

Not this time - the car kept up and seemed to gain on my Griff. After a couple of roundabouts and dual carriageway sections I moved over to let him past if only to see the badge on the back of the car.

Mitsubisi Lancer, P reg with and exhaust the size of a sewer pipe. Signwritten OZ Racing all over the bodywork.

So is my Griff (or am I?) losing its touch? I'm not used to this!

EVO's (regardless of age) can be tuned to over 300bhp reasonably easily, and 400bhp isn't unheard of....

So no, nothing wrong with you or the Griff, just a Japenese box with a lot of bhp out for a play (if it makes you feel better, the need servicing more often than a TVR !)

Generally no,

but you can tune the hell out of those things. I think one evo at TOTB (ten of the best) was pushing out upwards of 600 bhp. Not sure how long they last though

That's the snag with taking on jap turbo cars... you never know what's been done to them. Then again, if he has been fiddling with it, you could consider it cheating. However P reg is an Evo 4 isnt it? In standard trim, 280bhp, 0-60, low 4s...

Whatever the outcome, the Griff still looks better (IMHO of course)

For what its worth Neil, he was probably wondering what it was that could stay with him!

For all his bhp though, he still has a car that looks like a rep-mobile on steroids and can only dream of that V8 sound

Thanks for the email, you have a reply!

Thanx Tin Man. No times yet but from the look of the 996 C4 owner the other day, it's gotta be quick, that was just taking the p*ss!!! Booking some track days soon and definitely some timed runs somewhere. Keeping an eye out at the mo for a Red Rose but none around.

Don't see why not if they're both consenting adults.

Miss Tubishi's quite a goer from what I've heard.

Couldn't agree more . Personally, I take it as compliment whenever anyone tries it on. Although occasionally you find one that you get a chance to look at before they disappear backwards , but who cares they never have the noise, and they felt the need to try. We know .

Cheers d_drinks, the colour is Azure Blue and looks even better in the flesh I get comments on the colour all the time, it stands out alot. It's a Lotus colour. Thanks to the previous owner (Washy) for choosing it, i think he bought one again in the same colour. Good choice!
