In my quest to find an M3 i occasionally come across ones advertised with an AC Schnitzer short shift. Can someone just give me the low down on these boxes, pros, cons etc. Thnaks

It's not the boxes that are different, just the shift lever to shorten the throw, governered by the length of the lever below the mounting ball. Schnitzer also do a knob with short shifter etched into it, that can be fitted to any car.

As said it merely shortens the throw of the lever. My Evo had a B&W short shift fitted to it when I bought it and it's not great. The notchiness of the 6 speed box has been exacerbated by the kit and it feels pretty unrefined as it is with the OEM gear knob. Fitting a weightier aftermarket knob can iron out a few of the creases though.
