Sorry for the vague title, couldnt think of anything more appropriate.

I bought an OQO from Expansys last week. On Tuesday the AC power pack stopped working. Rang them and no problem we'lll get the returns dept to contact you. Few emails exchanged with the returns people and now it appears that the pack will have to be returned to the US and there is a turnaround of 4-6 weeks !!! This on an item I hadnt actually had for a full week at that stage.

I did buy the machine from their B Stock dept which I understand means I havent got quite as many rights as I would of it was brand spanking new but this does seem to be taking the mick a bit.

Anybody had such dealings with Expansys and any idea what demands I can make on them ?

cheers

Guy

Not that helpful, but I had to return something once (was an in-car mount - and they sent me the LHD version, because they didn't sell the RHD version for some reason), and had no problems - they even refunded me the postage, even though I ordered some other bits at the same time smile

Why not ask them, as a nice gesture, if they would do you a really great deal on a new AC power pack. Then you can return the defective unit for them to fix and when it's back you'll have a second power pack that you can keep at work etc?

Mattt - while not strickly speaking helpfull, nice to hear theyre good to deal with normally smile

Hutt - I thought of that initially but I cant see they actually sell powers packs for the OQO 01 model. The 02 model pack is there at £60ish though. To be honest I think if I was to be throwing money at the situation Id rather ask them to take back the B Stock machine and pay the extra £60-70 and have a brand new one.

Another slightly frustrating aspect is that if I plug the AC brick into a 12v source ( it has 2 inputs ) it works fine.. just not off a 240v one. So I can actually still use the OQO so long as I dont mind leaving it in the car to charge for a couple of hours first.

I spend quite a bit of money at expansys, and I've never had a problem if there's a fault with what's been bought.

It's not B grade stock however, and the issues are usually that something has gone missing or been damaged in transit...

Just to update.

Rang Expansys this morning and in the circumstances they will do a full refund on the B Stock item. I can then buy another B Stock or actually I think I'll go for a new one as its only £45 more at the moment.

Cracking service from Expansys like you guys said !
