Will i be able to play games on this laptop?
Discussion
Further to my other post i went ahead and bought a Dell Laptop: http://dellstore01.dell.com.au/public/cart/configu...
Now mine is a 1.83ghx Core 2Duo, 3GB 667mhz SDRam, 160gb HD. Audigy Advanced HD Audio.
However it has a Intel IGMA X3100 integrated graphics card.
I know this is not a great set up, but i was reasoning that i will get a PS3 soon for gaming and therefore that is not really a focus on this machine.
But i just wondered, how will it fare with games and will i be fairly limited?
I play Football Manager 2008 a bit but figure thats just an excel spreadsheet....

The new intel graphics cards are actually showing a bit of promise, although still not as good as the nvidia cards and so on.
I would think that things like source based games (Half life 2 et al) should just about run on that card ok, although perhaps you will need something extra for things like Crysis. It all depends on the kind of game you like playing.
You can always run GL quake on it...

I bought a laptop (1.7gig Celeron M, integrated intel graphics), never intended to run games on it though.
Have just about got it running Halo (at lower res with lots of the eye candy turned off), and its okay. R Factor was okay on it, but newer games would be a total no-go.
I think the newer integrated graphics cards aren't so bad, but if you're serious about wanting a decent gaming experience, try to find a model with dedicated graphics/memory. Should make a fair difference.
