motorpoint are selling 525i SE's brand new 2008 models with leather, auto, xenons etc etc for £23,995 a claimed £12,500 saving!

is this deal as good as it seems or is there a catch..ie dodgy import or sat in a yard in Africa for a couple of years.

(we almost bought a Golf GTi from there, £6k of list, last summer. turns out it had been parked in a desert in Tunisia since January 2005 when VW block built loads and couldnt sell. might be unregistered and 0 miles but 2.5yrs worth of dust, sand etc had done it no favours!!)

Sounds too good to be true tbh.

They do sell mainly imports but all BMW's have the month and year of build stamped on them so you can check plus it will be an old model at a guess i.e 2008 registered but 2007 model year.

Upto you if feel it's value for money or not.

What's wrong with a car parked in a desert for 2.5 years?

not neccessarily anything but I for one would rather have a near 4yr old car with say 20k used once a week than one that hasnt moved at all....its cant be good for it. and you are still paying £24k for a albeit high spec 4yr old 5er even tho it will be on a 08 plate.

Blimey these will be 192bhp M54 engined cars. 4 year old cars - would rather have a 20k miler like you say.

'Silver Grey' as a colour option would have been a clue anyway - not made since pre-LCI in March 2007.
