Transmission specialist nearish to Chester please ?

I have a Forester with a transmission whine which is getting worse. Not sure is it's gearbox, diff or what. Can anyone recommend someone in Cheshire / NW / N Wales to diagnose and fix the problem without ripping me off ? I don't mind paying a fair price, but don't want to go somewhere that will just replace stuff until the noise goes away....
