Search for lotus doc by doing :99 register vol. 64: :check mark notices: enter date 11/9/99 to 11/11/99 : key word "lotus"

It can be a very slow server.

It is a petition Lotus sent to the US's DOT that argues to allow the Esprit to be imported despite a noncompliance with a new (at the time 99') head impact standards. "Big deal sounds boring" you say but it goes into detail about Lotus's shaky finances Net Income, losses, loss of up to 10 usa employees, multiple ownership as reasons why DoT should allow a temp. noncompliance. Even mentions the Elise turning the companies profits around.

You can also search for various DOT decisions involving individuals trying to import cars to the usa. At the following link. Check mark "Notices" and certain year then a key word like McLaren F1 and you can find results. It is a very slow server. But it speeds up when the US is asleep or work day ends. Actually I haven't been able to find the F1 but have found Porker GT3's, Merc Galandawagons, Bentley's. No Tiv's or Elises

On another note you may also be interested in reading this article about a 2003 Lotus Elise in USA.
