Hello all,
As per the title, really.
Is there any freeware out there which will allow me to load pics onto a CD/DVD and show them as a slideshow on a widescreen plasma TV ?
Or alternatively, can i somehow connect the laptop to the TV and run via Windows > "My Pictures" > "view as a slideshow" ?
I have tried "Nero" but deleted it (well almost, but that's another story ... curse) as it wanted to take over all of my photo files.
Many thanks in anticipation.
kind regards,
d

I use Pro Show Gold

(I did the time lapse film with it - 1840 frames at 20 fps if I remember correctly)

It aint free but you get a fully functioning download with 15 days here http://www.photodex.com/products/proshowgold/

To hook your laptop upto your tv you need an s-video cable, presuming your tv/laptop has the same connection, worth checking first. This is a pretty standard tv out connection. This cable outputs video from your laptop/pc.

You also need one of these for the outputting sound (if you want sound). This connects to your headphone output on your laptop and the yellow/white inputs on your tv (again, presuming your tv has these, worth checking first).

You then change the display on your laptop to output to TV. FN key & F4 I think (at work at the moment).

If you have windows media center, you can use that to stream all your photos (or you could use my pictures). Media center is better though, saves you getting off your ass to change/pausewink

Should be able to do that with Windows Movie Maker that I believe comes free with Windows. I know it's a piece of video editing software, but I believe it allows you to import stills.

If it isn't installed, you can download it for free, from Microsoft.. smile

Irfan view does exactly what you want and is completely free.
(google 'irfanview')

As the poster above said you need an S video cable between laptop and TV, though thre are other communication forms between laptops and projectors / TVs nowadays. Check to see what you have got.
You can for instance get a Scart to RGB converter widgit if needs be.
