We have a convoy of exotica heading down to Le Mans this year. Porker 996, TVR Cerbera, Ferrari 308,TVR Tamora, and a TVR Griffith. Ferry with cabins(ie;beds) is booked up, Camping at Houx, Grandstand tickets, entry tickets... etc. etc.

We have a spare seat going in one of the cars, with all the above chucked in. price is around £400. No need apply and being a monster is vital!!

email me if you want join the party!!

Evening crowd-pleasers !
I have always fancied going over to Lemans and had hoped to do it this year , the seat you have -are you looking for someone to share in a car or another driver to fill a cabin , could be up for it either way.
Get in touch . Corin & Chimaera

Though not typical of the vehicles in this forum, I'll be travelling to Le Mans again this year in my mates 1963 double decker bus. If you pass us on the way, and lets face it with a top speed of 42 most people do, then give us a hoot and a wave.

Will you be at Maison Bleu on Sunday for the Drag Racing? There have been Fire Engines in the past. Why not a double decker bus...
See you there.

i am a bit concerned about the drag racing bit this year, i have been 3 years running in cerb1, griff 500 and cerb2 all of which had lots of power, not too much weight at the rear and relatively thin tyres.

my 996 will be going this year but it is a difficult proposition by comparison. The tyres are a good 5-6cm wider & the engine at the back gives massive traction / grip, making it almost impossible to break traction? I heard of one story where somebody tried similar and such was the traction and grip the drive shafts just shattered when the car was wound up and the cltuch dropped.... gulp

Barter,

We were at the Porsche Curves campsite last year and were used as the start line for a bit of drag racing, but there wasn't as much as there had been on previous years from what I've been told. Were we just in the wrong place? I tried to get my mate to drag race the bus, but we'd had a few technical difficuties with it, so he didn't want to risk it. Maybe this year. :-)

Is anyone planning on going to the Le Mans classic in September as I could be tempted to take the S2 down there for a bit of a laugh?

I didn't go over to Maison Bleu for the drag racing last year as its a bit of a walk from Houx Annexe. Last time I was there though the start had quite a bit of gravel so shouldn't do too much damage to the powertrain, just your paintwork.
After watching a BMW Z3 sideswipe a transit van off the start line I'm not too sure if I'll put my Chimaera 500 in!!

Vladd,

Were you the ones towing the Land Rover?
If so you were on the same ferry as us last year, looked a good laugh!
(Last year Chimaera, this year Motorhome, so we will be nearly as slow as you!)

Rob - never seen you race it ... maybe this year !

I always found that there was hardly any grip - you
only changed gear when the wheels stopped spinning.

I did have a very memorable race with a biker on a Blackbird with nitrous .. wearing no helmet ... he only just overtook me right at the end of the strip when it turns from tarmac to grass / gravel.

was anybody on the list there on the friday evening last year, and saw a pair of Cerbs (one rosso pearl red the other imperial blue) do their drag racing bit???

It was me and a mate, funny thing was i was at a customers the other day and we started talking about Le Mans. Then he said his best bit of the weekend was going to Maison Blu to watch the burnouts, he said there were these two Cerbs last year.....amazing co-incidence???

What...and scratch my pride and joy. I'll take Bodmin's wedge instead....if it will start!

Maybe next year. I might have something worth racing.

Raceboy,

We weren't towing anything last year, must have been somebody else. We did see another couple of busses here and there so it must have been one of those. Busses are a good laugh though, but not in the same was as taking something fast though. Our hightlight last year was having to bump start it in a hypermaket carpark when the batteries ran flat. My mate was driving and his girlfriend, my wife and I were pushing. We got it going first time which which was a good effort for something that weighs over eight tons. :-)
