iPod in E46 cab

I have recently bought a 330 Convertible with Business CD and no CD changer. I have done some research in how to fit an iPod, preferably in the compartment under the armrest.
I would like to be able to control the iPod via the steering wheel and it seems that DICE and Dension are the two affordable options (BMW asks 450 quid for retrofitting the BMW kit).

My questions:

- are there any major differences between the 2 systems in regards to functionality/quality?
- is fitting a DIY job?
