What is the best way to remove the original coach lines from down the sides of E28 BMW?

Chemicals?
Hairdryer?

Anyone got any idea?

If they're just vinyls, warm air to soften the PSA, then peel off gently, remove any residue with a paintwork-safe degreaser or automotive bug/sap remover.

The panel may well need a gentle polish to remove the ghosted edges and harmonise the previously-protected stripes into the remainder of the panel.

Wax of your choice to protect, and you're done.

If its a E28 circa mid 80s its possible they may be painted on, if so "tar and glue" remover would shift it, or a light solvent like panel wipe.
Done it on a few early 90's Jaguars for dealers wanting to "update" the cars.
If they are painted, basicly follow Anatols instructions, which are staight forward.
