Hi guys, hope you can help.....

1. My OH's mini ONE has had a light splattering of gloss white paint off the back of some pick-up truck (grrr). Paint has landed on black plastic trim and also the painted bodywork. It's now well and truly dried so I was wondering if theres a safe way to get it off without damaging the lacquer/paint and plastic trim?

2. My Renault Clio has the absolute base minimum paint required, and marks/scratches exceptionally easily (metallic black, almost a year old). It's probably up to renault's 'standards' but leaves me knowing that the next mum'n'pram'n'shoppin will only add to the impressive collection of marks/scuffs/scratches. Is there a decent treatment for this? the touch-up's the dealer sell's aren't really up to the job as the scratches are very shallow (but still appear to go through to the bodywork?).

Many thanks!

I would suggest washing the car and then using some clay to get the splatters off the paint. If you have never used clay before I advise you to read up on it by searching these forums. You could try some fairly concentrated all purpose cleaner or some dedicated plastic bumper cleaner for the other areas you mention to see if it works first of all. Someone else on here will probably have a better suggestion.

Make sure your OH does the shopping in her car. Easy solution.

As above first.

Failing that bits of paint can be fetched off by careful use of thinners (I say careful for a reason, it often makes a problem worse), a blade (again can make things worse, but works a treat on glass or very carefully on plastic trim), then through to cutting compounds etc.

I would really advise going the clay route first, it can work wonders.
