Help bosch diesel pumps

My problem is this, My fuel pump is knackered on my Astra x20 engined diesel van. The pump number is 0470504011. Also on some x20 engines there is a pump with part number 0470504003.
My question is are these pumps interchangeable as both being off the same code engines? & why would manufactures use different pumps with the same design? Would it be because of different horsepower engines in different models of car? I have a newer pump with the 003 code but don't want to get it fitted if it is not going to work.
I have searched for answers but I've come up with nothing, so I really would appreciate any help given
