Page 17 of this weeks Autocar a small rear view pic of a rebodied 996 based beast! Not got a scanner or would post it up. From the rear it looks sorta like a modern version of a 904/906.

Not spotted this in the porker press- or if I have it was ages ago & I've forgotten!

And a heck of a lot cheaper than a Carrera GT. Probably.

690 bhp?

Six hundred and ninety bhp?

S I X H U N D R E D & N I N E T Y B H P ???

To quote Luke Skywalker: "What - HOW?"

Where's the white flag of surrender (to quote the criminally overtlooked Blue Oyster Cult)?

I'm selling up and buying an Atom!

Seen the car in the flesh, so to speak! Sneak preview by Mr Ruf himself in the summer.... Ally body, 3.6 turbo engine suitably tweaked, huge torque, mid engined, approx 1200 kg, rear wheel drive, Ruf's own interior, height adjustable suspension for precticality over speed humps/ramps....should be sensational...unfortunatley so will the price. 400,000Euros...due to be shown at the Geneva motorshow early next year!

Its appropriately called "Godzilla"...

On a side note, I just spent 3 amazing days with a uf tech named Joe doing an R Turbo conversion on my '03 Turbo. I did the 550+hp package with Ruf suspension, wheels, instruments, and appropriate engine massaging.

The result is an absolute rocket. I also switched the 6th gear for a taller ratio theoretically good for 215 mph per the factory (some tape and subtract mirrors).

All in all, an absolutely amazing experience with breathtaking results.

Nick,

The integrated roll cage is only available on Ruf VIN cars that are built at the Ruf factory. It is a nice piece of kit as I understand it adds additional stiffness to the car.

I'll save that for a 997 Ruf variant !!!!!

As it happens I had the integrated roll cage fitted to my GT3 by Ruf....pretty extensive job but well worth it compared to the standard car I find
