SC sport problems - starting
Discussion
think it's fairly common problem - of course could be a dozen different problems.
Crack the ignition several times - (6 +) That should get some fuel thru. If it doesn't start then hold your foot 1/3 down on the accelerator.
That then should start - if not then it might be plugs or something more interesting !!

OK guys thanks very much,
Sometimes life has a way of kicking you in the cr*tch doesn't it? My beloved 850R has just given up thr ghost too so we are down to our daughter's Peugot 106!!!
Having just come back from a "pose" around (!!!!) I am off to try suggestions.
Hope to be back with a more positive post later!!

Sounds like no fuel or a bad air leak (maybe the common blown K-Jet airbox?). If the fuel pump is not running, pull off the crash-plug on the back of the metering head (this is the blue two pin Bosch socket behind the bit that the injector pipes come from); this should allow the fuel pump to run with ignition on and not running. If the pump does not run look at the relay & fuse first under the bonnet, its about 6 or 7 down from the top (dashboard) end of the board. The relay is the same as all the other ones, so try another if it is suspect. Once you have located the correct fuse remove it and inspect the ends, sometimes corrosion can stop a good contact. You can try connecting a live wire from the battery to either end of the fuse holder to see if the pump will run. If it still does not run you have a dodgy pump, so buy a new one and fit it. If money is tight, take it off and go to a scrap yard, most modern cars run a similar pump, you could make do with anything off a decent size (2.5 litre or more) Ford/Volvo/BMW/Merc provided the fittings are the same, £10 will get you one.
