Crash.net said:
Two rounds of the 2009 British Superbike Championship will feature three races, instead of the usual two, the championship organisers have announced.

"At a meeting held in September 2008 between the BSB manufacturer and team liaison groups and MSVR it was agreed by those present to consider a three race format for the BSB class at future, selected events," said a MCRCB/MSVR statement. "This was passed to MCRCB for approval which was granted.

"MSVR have selected the events at Brands Hatch on Aug 7/8/9 and Oulton Park on Oct 9/10/11 where the BSB class will have three Championship races over the weekend.

"The most likely format will be one race on Saturday and two on Sunday. It is envisaged that full broadcast coverage will be in place for the Saturday race(s).

"At all other championship rounds their will be two races for the BSB class which will result in a twenty-six race championship at twelve events."

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrranting

i know, in a time of an economic turndown, lets heap a load more stress on teams by extending those 2 race weekends by 1 more day, therfore making it more expensive to all.

and in other news, ducati basically booted out of superstocks again next year by this rule...

The MCRCB has also made alterations to the Superstock 1000 rules capping the price of eligible bikes to £15,000. Rules are as follows:

The motorcycles must be homologated by the original manufacturer only. The model will be eligible for Superstock competition for a maximum period of 5 years.

Superstock motorcycles require FIM Homologation. (The previous local condition concerning UK registrations has been removed.)

The MCRCB may homologate machines, which comply or will comply with the principles stated by the FIM.

For Superstock 1000 there is a price cap of £15,000, this is the Manufacturers Recommended Retail Price including all sales taxes (not including road fund licence) and VAT. In case of dispute the decision of the MCRCB Directors will be final.

All machines must comply with all requirements.
