Could i drop a 330td engine into my 320td compact???

Never heard of it being done and can't imagine the costs would make the final outcome viable.

Surely prices are cheap enough to ditch the compact and get a 330d.

Technically, as the S50 fits into both the E36 and E46 compacts, I would expect the M57 with a manual box sould fit as well, eventually!

The engine bays are identical sizes IIRC, but as has been said it's probably not worth the hassle - you may as well just get a 330d
