for google There seems to be a way of reseting your brake pad wear warning light via a mix of ignition click's & dooe opening, but I can figure it out. any body know or a web site that advises, E46

I dont think you can? I think it simply triggers when the wear sensor touches the disc and then goes away when it doesnt, so replace the pad and sensor and the light goes off?

Have you changed the sensor ?
If so you just turn the ignition to position 2 with the door open. Leave for 30 seconds.
If you don't reset it, it will eventually go out after being started a number of times assume the sensor has been repalced.

As others have said - the sensor must be replaced as its sacrificial. It will go out on its own or there is a sequence you can follow.
