My insurance is up for renewal next month and I've started looking for quotes - but every insurance web site I go to seems to insist on a Tracking device being installed.

I could really do without the hassle and expense of getting a Tracker just so I can get insured.

Anyone suggest an insurer who doesn't insist on one for an e46 M3 ?

Thanks.

Elephant I would suggest, not required on my GT3 or RRS

You will probably find that companies that dont require a tracker will be quite expensive to those that do, and the diffrerence in cost wont be much at all wether you have one or not.
It's good to give tracker a call as you may find that you already have one and just needs to be activated, mine had one and saved me a few bob.

I am with Admiral. No tracker.
I think Swiftcover do it too.

Best quote without tracker for me came from Kwikfit insurance, it was coming up as cheapest through most search engines, confused.com, moneysupermarket.com, comparethemarket.com
I was with elephant before and rang them too but their best offer was no match.

Swiftcover definately require a tracker. I was with them until I bought my Z4M last month. I moved to KwikFit who DON'T require one for £330 pa Fully Comp, a free MOT within the next 12 months & a 10% KwikFit discount card. Also got a reduction of £500 on my excess (which is/was £750) for an extra "insurance" payment of £37.

Try Bell, often very cheap.

Bell = Admiral = Elephant

They do not require trackers as of when I last checked.

My CSL has a tracker but it was not stipluated as a requirement.

Was with Bell for years on TVR, then E46 M3 and now E92 M3. No tracker fully protected no claims. Renewal comes in at £626.

Go online to Elephant same everything except guaranteed no claims (better) and more PI cover - £533 on line quote.

A couple of days later, phonecall follow up from Elephant to 'check details' and claims that he is in position to offer further discounts. Checks details, then if pay today (2 weeks to renewal) - £427. Nearly fell of my seat, but not before securing that renewal!

Try A-Plan, they were £440 for my M3 without using the Tracker, I have one but don't want the car back.

Next best price using the online searches was £820 so a big difference using a broker.

I'm with Swiftcover and they definitely do require a tracker - and even then there's a strict list of trackers they'll accept.

But.... it was actually cheaper for me to install a tracker and go with them than to take any of the other companies who didn't need a tracker.

My best 'with tracker' quotes were around £600. My best 'non-tracker' quotes were around £1.2k. The difference is about the cost of a tracker, which means you might be a bit better off this year but a lot better off next year.....

Don't rule out getting one - they're a piece of piss to get installed.
