RMA Nurburgring Track Day
Discussion
I'll be there for the Monday session so long as the track opens bright & early. If fog or ice or snow means track is closed am, I will give it a miss unless they offer a discounted price for a pm session.
I haven't booked it yet as I'm not risking putting down £300 if the weather turns for the worse as it's been known to do in that area. But I'm hoping that if I turn up for the safety briefing on Mon morning that I can sign up and handover a cheque. Hopefully they won't be limiting numbers of cars on the track, given it's 21 kms long!
I'll be there for the Sat & Sun public sessions in any case
What's your plans? Would be nice to say hello

Judging by the RMA day I went to at Bedford in Oct, there will be no shortage of 964 & 993 RS's in attendance. I don't know the official figures of how many people are going - will be interesting to see how turn up.
I've dropped my pace off by about 20/25 seconds a lap in the current cold slightly damp conditions - there are certain corners which are literally like ice in the wet, like inside of Brunnchen 2. And the armco sits only 5 metres away So a passenger ride with me will be pedestrian I hope
Looking forward to driving complete laps for the first time ever - wondering how Dottinger Hohe and under the Bridge will feel at full chat?

Aha! my first ever lap required an opposite lock moment on that corner due to rain. Bloody Treacherous.
Have fun guys, for once when you're all hooning around in circles I won't be miffed I didn't go. I shall be running an alcoholic marathon at BTaP instead.

I'll be there for both days Silver 964RS.
Don't get too excited about flying laps. Having read RMA's t&c's for the event it would appear you have to enter the pit each and every lap.
I'm hoping this restriction will be lifted on day, but I'm not sure if you could filter traffic onto the track safely based on the speeds some cars will be at on the straight when they pass the pits.

Oh bum!
So what's wrong with having a marshall posted at the pit lane exit letting you enter when the track is safe to do so? It's not like there's any difficulty seeing cars approaching down a 1.5km straight, so safe gaps should be easy to find given the limited number of vehicles circulating at any one time.
Seems rather ultra cautious to me, and coming back into the pits ruins what should be a glorious straight.

Totaly agree, and I hope RMA will aswell! But as this is there first event at the Ring I think they are playing on the safe side.
It does seem a bit cautious. I know RMA had real problems getting this organised though. Initially the track guys were insisting that everyone do a full day of tuition before being allowed out on the track. Seemed a bit harsh given the way you can just turn up for the public days. RMA won in the end but I think they are going to be pretty cautious to make sure nothing screws up...
I do quite a number of RMA Days, Graham has a very sensible and quite liberal approach to track rules, but after the last Wheeltorque event where there was complete carnage at almost every turn, he's got to be very, very careful, as have we all if we want to get back to the "Wheeltorque" style calander, with regular events for Brits. Certainly all my group of friends have privately agreed to take extreme care when overtaking "Ring novices" and to generally drive well within ourselves to try and ensure that none of us cause any grief for any other runner.
I think it is vital for us all that there are no major incidents, so I totally support Graham's approach of draconian marshalling on this event, if anyone takes the p.... they get sent home.
Looking forward to seeing you on the greatest piece of tarmac in the world, ( burgandy 964RS )
