Looking at going this year.

Hi all, I'm looking at going to LM this year but have no idea of the tick to get, Accomodation (camping?), parking etc. Can someone give me any advice.

Also if a group are going accross and staying together would you have room for one more or am i already too late.

If you go to Le Mans you have to camp at the circuit, it's the only way to really soak up the atmosphere. Camping tickets are always in short supply, especially the premium sites (Houx & Maison Blanche).
www.justtickets.co.uk seem to be one of the better places to book tickets unless you can get some through an owners club. The ACO are a waste of time and I'm certain they've already sold out of camping tickets for 2004 (although they don't tend to inform applicants of this until about April). There are usually camping tickets to be had on Ebay from about the middle of May but the premium sites tend to fetch 2-3 times face value. See www.beermountain.com for the low down on the various camp sites.

Ferry crossings can also be a problem if you're not planning on going Dover-Calais, the Caen-Portsmouth afternoon crossing for the Monday following the race is already full.

In short, you should be organising now.

As for getting there, you have an Esprit, drive it! Seriously, the drive down and back is half the fun. The ferry ports and roads are just full of Brits in every sports car you can imagine. Gendarmes have got a bit firmer in recent years but its still an opportunity to have a real blast without fear of losing your license.

Thanks for the help. I'd not decided on the crossing yet. What’s the general best route taken from past experience. Any plans for some members to meet and do the run on mass. The Loti will indeed be going and is in fact a main reason for the trip. Just would not be the same in a diesel Astra

We usually cross on the SeaCat Dover - Calais

I guess we will cross on the Thursday morning at 9AM as per usual.

It all depends on what ratio you want to achieve between crossing cost/time and amount of driving in France - we favour a nice long drive in France hence the short, cheap crossing.
