I bought a SS Submariner date back in 2002 and recall that, at at that time, the Submariner was quite rare and the GMT was easily available from most Rolex dealers and priced exactly the same at £2,350.

Just happened to be looking at prices the other day and saw that the GMT is now priced around £4,500 to the Sub's £3,500 - have I missed something or has my watch been overtaken and I should have bought the GMT all those years ago?!!

Wow, that's quite an increase, I bought a new S/S GMT II, 116710LN the one with the ceramic bezel, last May and paid list which was £3600. Just checked Feb '09 price list and you're right £4360.

The GMT now has the new ceramic bezel and maxi-case compared to the Sub which still has the metal insert and original case. Ceramic bezel apparently take 40 hours to make.
