Picture has been around for a while now to be honest, different dates & timing from German mags last week as below;

Infos of AutoBild (to the shown pictures above):

"The 997 first will come out as a Coupe but in two different versions: the normal one as Carrera 2 and a wider one as Carrera 2S with 19" wheels and sport chassis.
The new Carrera 2S Convertible and the Carrera 4S Coupe follow in 2005, the Carrera 4S Convertible, the 400hp GT3 and the 460hp Turbo with 4-wheel-drive will come in 2006.
The Targa and the second generation GT2 complete the line-up in 2007.
The basic model will have more displacement (3,8 instead of 3,6 litres), more power (340 instead of 320hp) and optionally a sixspeed Tiptronic gearbox.
Also new is the new interieur with better readable speedo, better seats and more quality.
But the 997 is only another evolution. The revolution let us wait until 2008."

Am I correct in thinking that this is a heavily face-lifted 996 model then?

And all new (really, really new), will be in 2008?

hmm, that does appeal...

not too much of a fan of the front and rear spoilers (check video clip) but i do like the addition to the arches..

really beefs it back up again, like a 911 should be.. wide on its haunches.

Thanks Dom...The word "Donkey" springs to mind!

1998 was a good year anyway, maybe they should have face-lifted the 996 back then! I never really took to those 996/Boxster headlamps, I hear that the 997 will be more 993 in fascial appearance!

That heavily disguised picture at the begining of this thread, shows typical misleading cover for mods that we are not supposed to look at, and you can already spot the family features!

Oh! and I previewed it this time...Eee Orr!

Hey, there's nothing wrong with virtual car ownership. Keeps the miles down and the badgers happy

P.S Domster,

When your Ultima is finished, will you give me a passenger ride?

LHD 996TTs ARE that cheap. I have seen some others for similar dosh. Bit of a bargain if you ask me.

No probs re passenger ride, but it will be many years off. Ask on the Ult forum if you want to experience an Ultima this decade

All green turbos seem to be cheaper.
I asked about this when I ordered mine, what colour to choose, they said '...as long as you don't order a green one.'
