can't get my 996 to start. battery seems flat, although alll electrics still work. tried to jump start using wifes jeep but still turned over very slowly and wouldnt fire. also alarm keeps going off when i put key into ignition. very annoying as its just come back from opc to fit new expansion tank on radiator. all was fine on friday evening when i drove it home now its dead. any ideas please? i'm gonna get the rac to look but thought it may have happened to one of you experts on here to save me the hassle of calling them out. cheers, kagey

Best keep this one quite, or the TVR forums will have a field day!

Duff battery. Same thing happened to our Boxster. Would unlock but not turn off the alarm/immob.

Just had the same with the FTO (damn stupid AA battery sized battery!)

It wouldnt jump, but once I fiddled around with the leads, realised it just didnt have a nice connection, I could tell once it had, as the donor car dropped a fair bit in revs..

might just be you dont have a funky connection.

Check both ends thoroughly.

Sounds like your battery is on its last legs. Just had the same symptoms on my 996 - sluggish turnover, alarm activating, clock resetting itself. Checked the battery with a meter and it required replacing.

This TVR owner had a similar battery prob with his 911. It would always start in the morning, but would go flat after a run - really strange, but it turned out to be the battery.

Anyway, at least I could use the TVR whilst I was getting to the bottom of the prob
