John Lennon often made anti-semetic comments, usually aimed at manager Brian Epstein, whom it was often rumoured had a crush on Lennon, but listen to the opening lines here,.. strange as the fab four spent a lot of time in India meditating with the Maharishi......and often sited Indian music as a major influence.

Wouldn't read too much into that if I were you. When you're performing an unfinished song you'll sing any old rubbish just to keep it going, then replace it with the proper words later.

i see this mentioned from time to time about lennon, but can't find even anecdotal evidence to back this up, let alone quotes.

i think with the wealth of info. out there regarding the beatles, this speaks for itself.

From an article reviewing Philip Norman's book:-

This most unpleasant man was a boorish homophobe, racist, misogynist, and anti-Semite. He treated his wife, Cynthia, like dirt, basically abandoning her once she gave birth to their son, Julian, in spite of the pain he experienced when his own parents abandoned him as a child.

He took great pleasure in hounding the group’s manager, Brian Epstein, who in spite of his success in making the Beatles the biggest band in the world was always reminded by Lennon that to him he was nothing more than a “queer Jew.”

Other than Epstein, Lennon seemingly moved in a world devoid of Jews—rather odd for one in the entertainment business, one of the few sectors of the economy where Jews were welcome and had a noticeable presence and impact both as artists and businessmen.

I have 'The White Album', but to counter any accusations of racism, I also have 'Back in Black' as well...

i might read the book then wacky. all i see is comments like those with nothing to back it up. lennon could be a complete cock at times but i think he just liked the reaction mostly. i don't imagine him having any real hatred towards epstein certainly.

oh, and re: the white album, there's no such title.
