Tonight BBC2 9pm.

If you haven't seen it this is a fantastic movie, the best I saw last year and a worth winner of an Academy Award. It's a great story beautifully told. (Even better is the DVD that has 2 additional documentaries on it).

What a fantastic program. I knew nothing about it until a radio 4 documentary last Friday. Truly bonkers in the classic French way!

That is the bestest best thing I've seen for ages. My telly is so bad the subtitles are blurred but my French was OK enough to enjoy it

If you rent the dvd it has about 2 hours of extra documentary footage, including a really good piece about the Sydney Harbour caper. (At least the US release did). The docs are as good as the film.

Awesome! What a guy!?!

Just one question though, I got a bit distracted towards the end - Round about the part where his girlfriend said they split up not long afterwards, why did his friend suddenly breakdown and start to cry in the interview? (I assumed it was the understandable emotional connection with the towers & sept 11th)

My reading of that situation is that they all felt betrayed because in the moment of triumph instead of celebrating with them what was, after all, a team effort Phillipe chose to go off and shag some American stranger.

me too, surely there must be som available somewhere? thats todays internet searching sorted.

as for the guy crying, it wasn't the guy who felt betrayed. i think he just got bit teary thinking of how fooking ace the whole caper was!

Breathtaking film. It was refreshing to watch something that didn't cost millions to make, didn't need a huge ad campaign to get people to the cinema and wasn't reliant on a "name" actor for its success. Too much Hollywood tat in the cinema at the moment. More of this. Immediately.

I was amazed and very pleased when it won an Oscar as the Americans just don't get this kind of film. Our local Blockbuster in Indy had 1 copy of it but 100 copies of the execrable Speedracer! Likewise only 1 theatre in the whole city showed Frost / Nixon whereas they all had Beverly Hills fking Chiauaua!

You have to remember that it all happened in 74 and the only pics from up top are the ones they took themselves. So I'm guessing it's unlikely that any really good snaps exist.

Enjoyed it lots, I got the feeling from the bloke who broke down at the end that there was some sort of falling out between him and Phillipe, it wasn't in the clip where he cried but the one just before it, he said somethign (sorry can't remeber exactly what) that just made me think somethign had come between them.

Excellant film though.
